Once you've reached your goal (i.e. muscle gain, weight loss, muscle tone etc.) You will want to maintain your physique as best as possible. Equally, if you are an athlete going from a pre-season that has included putting on muscle, to a season full of sprinting, you are going to want to maintain as much of your muscle as possible.
